Reliability

Bay Alarm Medical provides a lot of experience and support in the event of any type of medical emergency, with a record of happy customers as proof. The company has been around for over 70 years, starting in 1946, and that means they have serious expertise backing up its services and quality products. Bay Alarm Medical’s thousands of monthly customers vouch for its ability provide quality services. If you want to find out more, read the rest of this Bay Alarm Medical review.

Bay Alarm Medical uses contracted services to monitor their alarms, which means that the company itself does not run the call center. What we’ve found is that companies that do run their own call center tend to have a little bit more cohesion to their response for clients. That means that the system is not quite as seamless as it would be if they were monitoring everything themselves, though there’s no indication that clients have reported any kind of problems from this approach.

Hardware, Features & Services

Hardware

Bay Alarm Medical’s equipment is UL certified, which means you’re getting high-quality units that will work for as long as you need them. You’ll also get the base, a pendant, and a wristband, which enables you to always have access to the emergency alert button and to always have a simple and convenient way to get in touch with the support that you need when you need it. As an added plus, you get to pick a number of additional features to help you get the customized service that you’re looking for.

The Bay Alarm Medical alert base station offers you a range of up to 800 feet, which means you’ll have no problem getting around your house and still keeping the access that you need to feel comfortable and be able to communicate with the base station at the same time. You’ll be able to travel throughout your house without concern, as long as you keep track of obstacles and other things that can decrease the range.

The speakerphone on your base station means that you’ll easily be able to communicate with agents on the other end and you won’t have a problem hearing them or them hearing you through the system. This is important in case you are unable to get to a handheld device or if you need a little more assistance being able to hear it at all. You’ll be able to use the speakerphone to help you get the emergency services that you’re looking for quickly.

If you need fall detection you can easily add this service onto your current plan. Fall detection means that if you fall the pendant will immediately notify the emergency team for your medical alert device. They will attempt to contact you to find out if you need emergency services or not. If they can’t reach you they will immediately reach out to emergency services to get you the help that you need. This type of service is important because it notifies emergency services without you having to push the button at all, which means even if you are unable to push the button someone will be sent to help you.

Other additional features are available, including wall-mounted buttons at $1.95 each per month and a keybox, to make it easier for others to get into your house whenever they need to. You can get a single keybox included in your service, which provides a safe place for you to store a key outside your home. In the event of an emergency, a keybox allows anyone with the combination to access your house key and get into your house to get to you. If you want more than one of these boxes you will need to pay additional for it.

Features and Services

If your partner or spouse wants an alert button of their own you have to pay for the 2nd button, however you will get the additional service without extra cost because it will all run through the same system. This allows you both to have the protection that you want, even when you’re not right next to each other. You can still get plenty of independence and mobility, but you’re also going to have the security of knowing you can get assistance if you ever need anything and you aren’t able to get help from each other.

If you are the type of person who wants to be able to head out on your own you can do it easily with the GPS version of the system. GPS gives you mobility by enabling you to take your unit with you wherever you want. This allows you to have the freedom to move about and not worry about being tied down to a base or a landline. You can set up with a cell network through AT & T to make sure that you are always connected and can always get help, no matter where in the country you decide to go.

Though the base system is set up with a landline you can upgrade to a cellular signal even if you’re going to be using the service only in your own home. This can help you to stay better connected and can make sure that you always have help, even if you don’t have a signal from your landline. You’ll be able to get service that runs off of cell phone towers.  This provides accessibility for those who don’t have or want a landline phone in their home.

Tech Support & Transparency

Technical Support

You always want to be able to get technical support when you need it. This system provides 24/7 monitoring and customer service so that you can get the tech support you’re looking for whenever your device starts to fail. That way, you can get started on getting things back to normal a whole lot faster so you’re not without your device for very long. If the device does need to be sent in there can be a five-day turnaround from the time that they actually receive your device, which means it can take over a week before you get a replacement for one that you send in.

If the device has a defect or if there is general wear and tear on it you don’t have to worry about the cost of repairs to any of the equipment because it’s all included in the service and the company will take care of it for you by repairing devices where possible or sending you a new one if necessary. If the device is lost or broken because of user error or damage, however, then the user is responsible for all of the costs involved. You want to make sure you take care of the unit and keep it in the best shape possible to make sure that you don’t get stuck with a bill for the damage.

This system has a simple installation process that isn’t quite plug-and-play but is still easy. All you have to do is attach the relays and you’ll be ready to go without a lot of work, which is great for seniors who may not be as technologically savvy.

Transparency

No one wants to get the runaround from sales representatives or any company when they’re trying to find out information. Bay Alarm Medical is actually one of the easiest companies for you to find information about. This is great because you really don’t want to be spending a lot of time on research. With this company you can find everything you need and want to know (and a whole lot more) available directly from their website. This is important because it means you can decide if this is the right system foryou without even making a phone call.

Customer Support & Reviews

Getting started on the system can take a little bit of effort and some have found that they have trouble getting the online order system working. Some have also found some trouble with shipping but, for the most part, the system seems to be simple to get and super easy to operate. Most customers have a lot of great things to say about what they get for the service and the alert team that responds to the calls and concerns that anyone may have. This is a great endorsement and something to keep in mind when you’re looking for your own service.

I purchased this product for my parents. My mom had had a stroke and has difficulty speaking clearly. I had informed Bay Alarm’s customer service of this circumstance and they put the information in their notes. My father had a seizure and my mother used the Bay Alarm to contact help. Bay Alarm notified emergency services and informed them that there was an emergency and of my mother’s difficulty in communicating. Obviously, dialing 911 was not a viable option under the circumstances, but Bay Alarm handled the situation and the emergency services arrived without delay and aware of my mother’s handicapped speech. Best investment that I’ve ever made.

Eighteen months ago my mom fell and you notified me immediately. She was in a nursing home until 3 months ago. Because of you we feel comfortable bringing her home.

Cost

You’ll find that the prices are right in line with most of the competition and the company provides discounts if you decide to pay by the quarter or semi-annually instead of waiting to pay each month at a time. This is true for each of the different levels and systems that you can get which include an in-home, GPS mobile and full bundle offering you everything that you could possibly need.

The system provides you with upgrades as well as the standard options and you can cancel the service at any time and get a full refund of any unused months of service, which is a bonus. Keep in mind; you will have to pay the shipping costs to send your unit back to the company. However, if you cancel your service after pre-paying you will get all the money back that you don’t use, which is one of the best cancellation policies in this field. Most companies tend to keep whatever money you may have paid them and require you to either finish out the term or forfeit the money that you’ve already sent in to pay ahead.

If you have DSL Internet you will need to pay an additional feel for a DSL filter, and if you want upgrades like fall detection you’ll pay additional fees per month for that as well. Additional devices are inexpensive but if you want them they are going to be extra as are extra lockboxes, any wall buttons you might want and a protection plan or surge protector. You’ll want to at least look into each of these features to make sure that you have everything you could possibly need to keep yourself safe.

Bay Alarm Medical offers a full array of services and offers several different upgrades as well as practically any device you could want. You’re also able to upgrade and add on additional devices whenever you want, which allows you to customize and make sure your medical alarm service benefits your lifestyle and specific needs.
