COMMUNITY SERVICES ONLY FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

SENIOR CENTERS

  Senior Centers are multipurpose centers serving as a focal point for comprehensive service delivery for all individuals over the age of 60. The senior Center provides a social environmental coordinating health and social services, and adult education programs. Many centers provide a daily hot lunch program (while some serve only once a week), as well as recreation and cultural activities.three people loading up the car

Services:
They may also provide services such as:

  • information and referral
  • home delivered meals (for those unable to leave their home)
  • transportation
  • escort services (assisting a frail older person to the - store, doctor's office, etc.)
  • client assessment
  • outreach
  • health clinics
  • chore services
  • socialization
  • recreation
  • telephone reassurance
  • friendly visiting
  • other similar services

Local Senior Centers can be contacted by looking in a local phone book or by calling the local city or county government office.

Financing:
Since most the services are provided through funding by the Older American's Act there is no fee. However, there will be a suggested donation to help cover the program costs. Financial assistance to access these programs is generally not provided or needed.
