SHELTERED WORKSHOPS
For individuals
with more severe disabilities, sheltered workshops offer a daytime care
option. Day training services are designed to prevent institutional placement
and should include opportunities to enhance self-esteem, maximize independent
functioning, facilitate skill development, increase utilization of community
resources and relieve isolation.
Services:
These services are generally employment-related and require that individuals
spend time on a job site under the supervision of a job coach. A referral
to the sheltered workshop by the Division of Services for People with
Disabilities case manager is required.
Contact:
To locate the nearest Sheltered Workshop and to check eligibility,
contact the Division of Services for People with Disabilities office which
is found in the local phone book under Utah State Government.
Financing:
There usually is no cost for this service.
