Changes in the Nervous SystemAfter age 25, everyone loses nerve cells. Gradually over time, this results in a reduced ability of nerve transmission, changing response time and coordination. The brain also shrinks in size, which does not significantly affect functioning except in the most extreme cases. These changes may also affect sleeping patterns somewhat by decreasing the length of total sleep time and REM sleep. | |
