SENSORY CHANGES WITH AGING

Our senses play a central role in our ability to gather information and to participate in social interactions. Along with a variety of physiological changes that accompany the aging process, changes in the sensory also occur. It should be noted that while everyone will probably experience some of the changes discussed below, the degree of change would vary from person to person. In addition, the effects of the sensory changes on the individual's perceptions and social interaction depend upon many factors, such as: lady holding child

  • the specific sense affected
  • the nature of the change
  • the extent to which overcoming the changes can be accomplished either mentally or physically
