Accessibility Statement
Updated Oct 27, 2026
Many of our readers are older adults, and some have low vision, hearing loss or limited dexterity. We want every page, quiz and form on AgingInPlace.org to be easy for them to use.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we’ve done
- Body text is at least 18 pixels.
- Text and buttons meet AA color-contrast levels.
- Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, for easier tapping.
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, shows a visible focus outline and has a “skip to content” link.
- Images have text alternatives, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Form fields have visible labels and clear error messages.
- Pages respect your device’s reduced-motion setting and work when zoomed to 200%.
- Tables have headers that screen readers announce.
Known limitations
- Some partner websites we link to aren’t controlled by us and may not meet the same standard.
- [List any open issues found in testing, with target fix dates.]
How we test
We check pages with automated tools and by hand with a keyboard, a screen reader (VoiceOver on iPhone and Mac), and at large zoom before release.
