HIPAA Disclosure

AgingInPlace.org is a consumer information and referral service. We aren't a doctor, health plan or other HIPAA "covered entity," and we don't provide medical care, diagnosis or emergency response.

Most companies we refer you to, including medical alert system providers, sell consumer products and services and generally aren't covered entities either. That means HIPAA usually doesn't apply to information you share with us or with them.

We still protect it:

• We collect only what's needed to connect you with the company you choose.
• We store it with vendors that have signed Business Associate Agreements and encrypt it in transit and at rest.
• We share it only with the company you name, with your consent.
• Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice explains your rights under state health-data laws.
